The mushroom (bottom) can be use in a anvil or a fly press. This is a soft tool but the top surface can be hardened by applying kasenit or any other hardening compound. The mushroom is used a handy bottom tool in a anvil.  It creates texture on the fly press by using any of the ball punches for the fly press or using a veining chisel on top for creating curve lines.
